In order to provide access to quality primary education across India, SKS in 2009 registered an SKS Educational Society, which established 16 academies around Andhra Pradesh. The SKS Bodhi Academies located in 4 districts of Andhra Pradesh(Medak, Nalgonda, Warangal and Khammam) were launched on June 15th 2009. SKS Bodhi Academies focus on providing excellent education to children of rural villages at a low cost price. The schools only charge INR 160-220 (USD 3-5) rupees per month and provide children with a complete English medium education. Unlike other rural schools SKS Bodhi focuses on providing children with an interactive and practical curriculum through a specially developed “play way method” which will prepare them for a bright future. Education is from pre-nursery to second standard. Care is taken to ensure that the schools are run professionally and the student-teacher ratio never exceeds 1:25. Teachers are recruited from local and non-local areas and are well qualified .They are then retrained in order to absorb the concepts and methodologies that are unique to SKS Bodhi Academies. SKS Educational Society hopes to expand its operations in the future and extend the gift of quality education to children across India. |
