Vikram
Byanna Akula
Vikram is Chief Executive Officer of SKS and has several years
of work and research experience in microfinance and rural development.
He holds an M.A. in International Relations from Yale University
and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at the
University of Chicago, where his dissertation focuses on microfinance.
His professional background includes working as a community
organizer with the Deccan Development Society in Medak and as
a researcher with the Worldwatch Institute, an environment and
development policy institute in Washington, D.C.
Malini
Byanna Akula
Malini is a third-year law student at the Chicago-Kent College
of Law planning to specialize in International Children's
Rights. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University
of Illinois and has over 8 years of experience in the social
services. Her experience includes serving as the Director
of a Medicaid Physician Referral Service at Catholic Charities
and as the Child Visitation Center Supervisor, Legal Advocate
and Community Educator of Apna Ghar, a shelter for abused
Asian women and children. Malini is currently serving as the
Executive Director of Swayam Krishi Sangam Foundation.
Dave
Madan
Dave began his professional career in the sales department
for Car Telephones, Inc. in 1988. After expanding the business
from the Midwest to the East Coast, he became the National
Sales Manager, and also took ownership of two retail store
locations. In 1994 he and a partner founded Internet Chicago,
a provider of internet connectivity within the Chicago area.
Now offering a full range of internet services and Web development,
his company continues to win awards for its work and praise
from its customers. Internet Chicago currently has 18 employees
and over 1 million dollars in revenue.
Ritu C. Dhingra
Ritu earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from Ohio State University
and a Masters in Management (MM) from Kellogg Graduate School
of Management. For the first seven years of her career, Ritu
consulted with governmental entities such as US and State
EPA and Fortune 500 companies on clean up options at hazardous
waste sites and environmental compliance. She then worked
for a Fortune 200 chemical company to proactively manage environmental
compliance at their US coatings plants. Ritu is currently
the US Marketing Manager at Underwriters Laboratories Inc.
(UL), an independent, not-for-profit safety testing and certification
organization.
Atul
Trivedi
Atul earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University
of Illinois in 1994. From then, until 1998, he worked for
Baxter Healthcare Co. as a Product Development Engineer in
their IV ("intravenous") Systems Division. In 1998, he left
Baxter to start a legal education at Chicago-Kent College
of Law and will graduate in May of 2001. Currently, he is
working part time for Wallenstein & Wagner, a small law firm
in downtown Chicago that specializes in intellectual property
law including: patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets.
Kim
L. Reilly
Kim earned a B.A. from Marquette University, double majoring
in English and Anthropology where her primary interest was
physical anthropology especially cause of death analysis,
physical evidence of trauma and disease. After completing
field school at a historical cemetery in Whithorn Scotland,
she worked for GLARC, a Milwaukee based archeological group
excavating and cataloging the removal of a local Milwaukee
cemetery. After attending classes at Arizona State University
and working for the State Bar of Arizona as Administrator
of Legal Specialization and Continuing Legal Education she
returned to Chicago and is currently a third year law school
student at Chicago Kent-College of Law. She is currently working
as a research consultant for a local Chicago-based hedge fund
and plans to pursue a PhD in forensics/physical anthropology.
Pamela
Wilson
Pam earned her MSW from the University of Illinois at Chicago
in 1996 and her MJ in Child Law from Loyola Law School in
May 2000. She is presently working as a Therapist on the Adolescent
Psychiatric Unit at MacNeal Hospital where she has been for
the past three years.
Andy
Khan
Andy has a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University
of Illinois and a MS in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois
Institute of Technology. He has been employed by Motorola
for 11 years and is currently developing advanced communication
systems within Motorola Labs. He has two issued patents and
several patents pending in the field of radio communications.
Nivedita
Das
Nivedita
has a BS in Biology from University of Illinois and an MS
in Neurobiology from the University of Illinois. She currently
works at Abbott Labs as a research scientist in the HIV diagnostic
division.
Anita
Tamirisa
Anita is starting her third year at the University of Chicago
where she is majoring in sociology and pre-Med. In her free
time, she is involved with the Univeristy of Chicago South
Asian Students Association and with Dance Studio. Her future
plans include involvements with Teach for America or an Americorp
program, traveling, and attending medical school.
